Equal Second for Irish Team in Nations Cup

Some might have thought that the Irish Nations Cup team might struggle after a years absence but they finished in a commendable second place in La Baule, France yesterday (Friday). The Belgium team came in first with Ireland sharing second place with Switzerland and the United States.


New Competition "Pony Champion of Champions"

Horse Sport Ireland, the Irish Pony Society and the Irish Shows Association are to hold a new initiative to support Irish pony breeders. They are to be given an opportunity to showcase their youngstock at Irish shows.

The "Pony Champion of Champions" competition will hold twelve qualifying competitions leading to a final to be held at the Irish Pony Society Championship Show at Cavan Equestrian Centre on 2nd of August.


Olympic Equestrian places for Irish Riders

The FEI (Federation Equestrian International) has alloted a maximum of five places in the Three Day Eventing and one Show Jumping place for the 2008 Olympics.


New Agency for the Irish sport horse

Horse Sport Ireland is the new Government established agency to promote the sport horse sector in Ireland and brings the sporting, breeding and leisure sides of the industry together for the first time. From January 1st 2008 Horse Sport Ireland became the Governing body for Equestrian Sport in Ireland.


???500,000 for the Equestrian Skillsnet Programme

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Michael Martin has launched the new ???500,000 Equestrian Skillsnet Programme.

This has been funded by the National Training fund and will operate from Horse Sport Ireland in Naas. The programme will offer training in coaching, grooming, show jumping, course-design, event management, stewarding and health and safety.


Showjumping Grand Prix series details for 2008

Showjumping Ireland have announced the dates and venues for this years Showjumping Premier Series.

Showjumping Ireland sponsor in conjuction with Citreon are offering a total prize fund of ???150,000, with each round prizes at over ???12,000.
