The FEI have confirmed that Jessica Kuerton's horse Castleforbes Miake has tested positive in the B blood test.

The inquiry in Australia by the Federal Government into the equine flu outbreak has on the opening day laid the possible blame at the door of Irelands Coolmore Stud.

The Irish eventing teams hopes for the Olympic Games came to an end yesterday after the cross-county section of the European Eventing Championships at Pratoni del Vivaro in Italy.

New foot and mouth outbreak in England

A second outbreak of foot-and-mouth was confirmed on the outskirts of London in Surrey last Wednesday, this came just days after the government had lifted livestock restrictions which had been imposed last month.

Irish Eventing Performance Manager resigns

Eventing Performance Manager Lars Christensson has resigned three weeks before the European Championships.

It is reported that Mr Christensson who officially gave "personal reasons" for his decision to quit had in fact resigned after a disagreement over selection. He has worked for Eventing Ireland for the past two years.

Horse rides to rescue as owner attacked in field by raging cow

A FARMER has told how she was saved by her horse after it fought off a raging cow that was attacking her.

Fiona Boyd, 40, feared she was going to be crushed to death by the half-tonne cow after it kicked her to the ground, then rolled on top of her.

She had been about to guide the normally placid animal and its calf towards a shed when the cow suddenly attacked.

She believes she survived only because her horse, Kerry, raced to the rescue and kicked the cow until it moved off her.

Irish stallions quarantined in Australia

Fifteen Irish stallions are being held in quarantine in centres in Australia. This follows the outbreak of equine flu.

The horses affected include nine from Coolmore Stud in County Tipperary and five from Kildangan Stud in County Kildare

The Irish stallions were due to serve a large number of Australian mares, therefore owners could suffer large financial losses.

Stricter Guidelines to Protect the Irish Horse Industry

Jessica Kuerten's horse failed dope test

It has been confirmed that 'Castle Forbes Maike' ridden by the world number four Jessica Kuerten has tested positive for a banned substance after an event in La Baule, France in May of this year.
